The Feast of Tabernacles

Friday night we went to Natalie and Stuart's house. Natalie grew up in Israel. Her parents are missionaries there. She and Stuart met there. In Israel they celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles or Booths. You can find this in Leviticus 23:33 - 44. The feast is so they remember God's protection and guidence while they were in the wilderness. It is celebrated a week after the Day of Atonement. We had a great time. Natalie told us a little about their time in Israel and about the Israelites today.

Welcome Fall!!

Fall is here! I love fall. The crisp air, football, state fairs, new school supplies, changing leaves, the feel of change coming. However, fall does not come in all it's glory here. Instead summer completely overstays her welcome and becomes obnoxious, forcing it's heat well into October!!

So I decided that I my house, fall would come! I made a fall wreath and a fall table arrangement! All items were purchased at Michael's craft store and made by me! The table decor is not finished, there is a tablecloth I want to get from Wal-Mart. It's not much, but it's a nice change into fall. It was a fun Sunday afternoon project.

Summer highlights

Four summer 2007 highlights -
*SeaWorld/San Antonio
*NBA Finals
*Brent did a strong man contest this summer - in July. He won. But the other guy tried to cheat!!! I was so stinkin' mad! So was everyone else! but i guess you see what happens when you try to cheat - you lose!
*Our friend, David Hopkins came with his church's youth group on a choir tour. Rachelle and Emma couldn't make it, but it was nice to see David.
*Friendships!

NBA FINALS

In June, we went back to San Antonio for the NBA Finals! It was a CRAZY thing to do. Not the best idea in the whole world and we learned a lot from it. The Cleveland Cavs were playing the SA Spurs in game 2. We really went to see LeBron James. He is Brent's favorite player. They lost, so I kept telling Brent that LeBron owes us a few dollars for having made the trip to watch them lose!! But it's kinda neat that we went to the NBA finals. That doesn't happen often in a person's life - right??

Brent's Birthday

In May 2007 for Brent's birthday we went to San Antonio and to Sea World! We had the best time and stayed in the Omni hotel! Courtsey of the entertainment book we got a GREAT discount!!
We ate dinner at a Mexican restaurant on the Riverwalk - it so beautiful! Later we went to the Rainforest Cafe for Brent's "birthday cake". We had the Volcano dessert! It is delicious! There are 2 scoops of ice cream in the middle, four brownies stand up aganist the ice cream to create the "mountian" look and there is whip cream on top with hot fudge flowing everywhere! It comes with a sparkler (in some restaurants) and the server must yell volacno extremely loud as he/she delievers it to you table! Our server took Brent out in front of everyone and made him beat his chest like a gorilla while everyone sang happy birthday! Brent loved it! Below: this is like the little table we ate at.

We also went to the Alamo. That was really neat. I like history.

2006

We moved here in January 2006. Last year was spent adjusting, making friends, and learning new jobs, going to school, doing homework and finding a new church! We like it out here now. We have amazing friends! Our jobs are good. And we have finally joined a church that is amazing! Brent is almost finished with school! Hopefully he will graduate in MAY! We aren't really sure what is next. He hopes to get a job with Team Impact or the Power Team. Below are a few links you might want to check out:

About this blog

For about a year now, I've been wanting to start a blog for our friends and family to keep up with us while we are a this journey called seminary. Yes, we have myspace and facebook, but some people do not and this seemed like a good way to be connected to everyone. So since we have been a seminary for a little more than a year, I will post a few blogs so you can see what we have been up to!
Please leave comments if you like, we'd love to hear from you!
