Basketball and Weddings

There a story that is funny to us. One night just a few months after we were married, Brent was watching basketball. It wasn't just any old basketball game, it was a Cavs game. Brent's favorite player is Lebron James. Now when I say favorite player, I mean he's possibly a fanatic. Anyways, when I came into the living room and sat on the couch and began to tell Brent something about the day. He just looked at me, held up his hand, and said, "Shhhh - Lebron's on." and looked back at the TV. Then he looked at me again and we laughed and laughed. It still makes us chuckle when we tell this little funny. :)
His obession, I mean like, of Lebron has calmed down a bit - especially since he owes us $400. But the Heat is now the favorite team.
Now fast foward 7 years and tonight was my turn. I got to return the sweet sentiment! I am excited about the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Tonight, I was watching a show on BBC that was telling the story of the two and Brent was sitting on the couch with me. When the commericals came on, the TV would change to ESPN for the college girls championship. Then a few moments, the TV would change back to the story of William and Kate. Brent decided to talk to me about something about the game and, well, you know what I said - "Shhh! William and Kate are on!" YES! HAHA! GOT HIM!! It was pretty fun!

I guess we will see what will become of Lebron and the Heat. I can't wait for the royal wedding. I don't know if the Heat play on April 29, but I'm thinking Lebron will have to wait on the DVR!

Revolve Tour

This past weekend Julie, Michelle, and myself took 12 girls to the Revolve Tour. We had a great time. The Revolve team is very good. Britt Nicole, Hawk Nelson, Group 1 Crew performed concerts - they all put on fantastic shows. Jamie Grace and Kathyrn M (from So You Think You Can Dance) were also on the team and performed well.
The theme was Dream On. Going for the dreams you have in your life, yet realzing that maybe God has different dreams for you or wants to use your dream in a different direction than you originally intended.
Jenna and Chad were the main speakers. They do a great job at getting to the heart of the matter and saying things just right! Topics included (but were not limited to): boys and relationships, friendship, drama, teen suicide, trusting God, heaven, focus, telling the truth, and being yourself. We hope to go again next year....with even more girls! :)

6 years

Brent and I have been married for 6 years now!
The week before, Brent backed into my car. So while my car was being fixed we got to drive this car. It was pretty nice. Too bad it's not a keeper!

This is some of our family. We had the best time with them that day!

SUMMER CAMP

Summer camp was this past week. What a great time. We really have some great kids. I have been reading this book on gratitude by Nancy Lee DeMoss. So I thought I would make of list of things I was thankful for at camp this week. So in no particular order here we go:

1. Air conditioner and big fans
2. Shower shoes
3. Sunny days
4. Messy games
5. My backpack
6. 2 salvations
7. Several other life decisions
8. Bug spray
9. Reliant K and extremely loud teenagers to keep me awake while driving home!!!
10.Zyrtec and Benedryl!
11.Fun camp staffers who interact with the kids
12.Batteries
11.A Breeze
13.Tennis shoes
14.Bottled water and gaterade
15.Not having to cook any meals

So that's the list so far. I'm sure I left off a few things. Brent, Bubba, and Melissa did a great job. The camp had all kinds of things to experience. Climbing wall, high ropes course, canoeing, dock jumping, pool, paintball, and tubing. The staffers were great. They taught the kids fun camp songs before each meal and even did entertainment during the meal. They were good at helping the kids with activities.

I realized again what a great leader Brent is. I can see God growing him. Bubba is a great planner and speaker as well. Melissa is too! She is so much fun!

Maybe we will go to this camp again next year. Enjoy these few pictures.

Bye Bye Bye

Our dear friends are moving to South Carolina in about a week and a half.
So to celebrate, we went to PF Changs! We had a great time and the food was nice and we had free lettuce wraps! You can't beat that!

Michael has accepted a children's minister position at a wonderful church. It's such a great opportunity for them! We are really excited for them, but of course we will miss them and their kids like crazy. (They have the coolest kids ever!!!)

Sad, no more fun days in the office!

Lettuce wraps! You know you can taste it! Go get one!
What a dessert!

Brent is such a goofball!

Weekend in Chattanooga

The last weekend in March we went to Chattanooga with Clay and Ashely. We went to Unclaimed Baggage which is way over rated, except of the man who bought an oil painting for $65 and a few months later discovered it was work between $15,o0o - $20,000. Then we got to Chattanooga and visited the MoonPie store - I do not like moon pies, but everyone else enjoyed it. Then we went to the Chattanooga zoo...it's a laugh. There are deer and raccoon and coytotes. i can see these in my backyard if I wanted too. Then we visited Bluff Park - it's an art district. Fabulous place. They have a statue of an artist's idea of the progidal son (seen below)

Afterwards, we met up with Angela!! She was my former boss at the seminary! It was so great to see her! A breath of fresh air! As for the shirt that Brent is wearing in the picture, he wore it in honor of her. If you can't read it, it says "fat people are harder to kidnap". A group of us who worked together got a group up to go to a baseball game and Brent wore this shirt. When we arrived someone said they liked his shirt. I proceed to tell everyone that Angela has the same shirt! Silent pause as everyone realizes what I just said. Then much laughter! It was hilarious! Brent and Angela do have the same shirt - only it says "sarcasam is just one of the free gifts I offer." That's the shirt I thought he had on. You really had to be there. It was great moment in history!

Oh! As for the hill with the people below - we drove past a park and at this hill there were tons of people with card board surfing down the hill - it looked like so much fun!

Progidal Son statue

Hooray for Angela! Love her!
What a great weekend!

Update #122

So........our home study is in the final review with our placing agency and it should be sent off to DHR by the end of this week or at the beginning of next week! :) Hooray!!! Who knew it would take almost a whole year? We are s-l-o-o-w! If you are considering adoption, your home study will not take a whole year - maybe 2 months, 3 tops! But we are slow.

We also have fundraiser planned for Saturday May 22! It's a painting fundraiser - this is going to be fun! If you would like more info just let me know in the comment box.
Brent is hoping to sell some Boston butts again at some point. Maybe we will do a dessert auction at my mom's church. Or maybe God will just sell a few of those cattle on the thousand hills for us! :) He is faithful like that, you know. :)

Our friends T and J have received their travel plans!!! They travel within the next two weeks!! I am so excited for them!

DiscipleNow is coming up for the youth. It's going to be great! Annual couch wars!

So good times this week!

Have a great one!
